25-26. The Twelfth and the Thirteenth Ḥadīth Proving Hands for Allah: Kitāb al-Tawḥīd (The Book on Monotheism) by Abū Bakr b. Khuzaymah
22. Twelfth Ḥadīth Proving Hands for Allah
This narrative too proves that our Lord has hands. It tells us that Allāh will clinch the earth with His hands on the Day of Judgment after He will have turned it into a new one. The earth will then become bread for those dwelling in Paradise. Before Allāh will take it in His hands, it would be composed of earth, stones, pebbles, sand, and clay.

b. Yassār → Abū Saᶜīd al-Khudrī:
The Prophet said: “The earth will turn into piece of bread on
the Day of Judgment which Allah Almighty will keep safely in His hands as an
initial entertainment for those destined to dwell in Paradise just like any
among your keeps his bread in his hands while journeying.” A Jew came and said:
“O Abū al-Qāsim, Allah bless you! Should I tell you what the Messenger of Allah
said?” (The Prophet looked at us) and smiled so that we could see his front
teeth. He said, “Should I tell the most long-lasting of them?” The Prophet said,
“Yes.” He said: “Lām and Nūn.” [The Prophet asked: “What is that?” He replied:
“An ox and a fish. [So huge that] seventy thousand persons can eat their
livers.”
23. Thirteenth Prophetic Tradition Proving Hands for Allah
This narrative deals with the Prophet’s statement that that Allah
extends His hands to the evildoers at night to repent in the day and for those
who sin in the day to repent during the nighttime. He will continue in this
state till the sun rises in the west and [the Hereafter is set].

the Prophet:
Allāh keeps His hands open and extended in night to welcome
repentance from those who sin during the day. He keeps his hands open and extended
during the day to accept the repentance from those who sin during the night. He
will remain in this state till the day the sun rises in the west i.e. the Day
of Judgment.
Abū Bakr said: Makhzūmī did not say “in the day.” I have
included all the narratives in this regard in the Book of al-tawbah wa
al-inābah (repentance) in my Ṣahīḥ. The guide to the true
implication of the narrative is there in its wording. It has been stated that Allah
opens His hands. This also serves to indicate that the actions and deeds of men
committed during the day are reported to Him before the nightfall and the ones
committed during the night reach Him before the daybreak.

Abū ᶜUbaydah → Abū Mūsā:
The Prophet stood
among us (the companions) and stated five things. They are. Allah does not
sleep. Nor does it behoove him to sleep. He grants more share (whom He wills)
and gives less (to whom He wills). The affairs of the night are referred to Him
during day, and the affairs of the day in the night. His screen (ḥijāb)
is made up of light (nūr). If He decides to remove this screen, the
glory and light emanating from His face would burn every creature of His, upon
which his sight falls.
