6. On the Light and Glory of Allah’s Face The face of the Lord does not resemble the face of His mortal creations. He does not, however, lack face at all. Allah himself has told us in his firm revelation, the Holy Qur’ān, that He has a face to which He attributed glory, honor, and security from destruction. 28. (1) Yūsuf b. Mūsā → Jarīr → al-‘Alā’ (b. al-Musayyib) → ‘Amr b. Murrah → Abū ‘Ubaydah (b. ‘Abdullāh) → Abū Mūsā: The Prophet said that Allah does not sleep. Nor it becomes Him to sleep. He grants more share (whom He wills) and gives less to (whom He wills). The affairs of the day are referred to Him before the night time, and the affairs of the night before the start of the day. His screen ( ḥijāb ) is made of fire. If He decides to uncover it, the glory and light emanating from His face would burn everything that His sight catches.
