(78) Punishment for the Monotheists The Fire catches the bodies of the monotheists and consumes them according to their sins , errors, and blunders they commit in the worldly life. This chapter also contains narratives which refute the view of those who, lacking firm knowledge and understanding of the Prophetic aḥādīth , say that the Fire cannot touch the monotheists. It only afflicts them with its heat and pain, the grief it causes, and the hardship it brings. It also includes proof that they will be put in Hell if Allah will not show mercy to them and does not remove their sins even though they will have done good deeds in their worldly life including fasting, giving alms, performing pilgrimage, and fighting in the way of Allāh. O men of understanding, how can the one who has mere faith in Allah and fails to do any good deed be saved? 493. (1) Mu’ammal b. Hishām al-Yashkurī → Ismāᶜīl b. Ibrāhīm al-Asadī → Muhammad b.
